• Long 5.8 degree 0.95’ E to the meridian of long 39 degree 15’E thence 180 degree to parallel of lat 0.5’s and 270 degree to the mainland.
PORT CHANNEL / DISTANCE FROM O/A• Is a natural channel, 6km long, deep water to the port.
• Distance to/from Outer Anchorage is 1.7 km
NAVIGATIONAL SERVICE• Pilotage is compulsory and movements of ships are restricted to day light only from 0600-1800hrs daily basis
DISCHARGE MODE
  • Discharge is direct delivery by Ships cranes & Grabs,
  • Ship must be equipped with working cranes and Grabs
  • Port do not have shore cranes. Port mobile crane are dedicated for cargo handling on the storage port yard.
  • Stevedores may use shore mobile cranes on request if available, as is faster and far reaching for some ships / discharge ops. Especially for bulk cargo direct discharge into receiver’s trucks.
WAITING TIME• Subject to weather and port congestion situation at the time of ship’s arrival.
DISCHARGE RATE

Average discharge rate per 24hrs.

  • 1,500 – 2,500 mt - for break-bulk cargo
  • 3,500 – 5,000 mt - for dry bulk

Subject to sufficient supply of cargo trucks by receivers, road traffic jam, delivery congestion ops in the port, congestion at exit gates and weather.

TARIFFS, EQUIPMENT & SERVICES

BUNKER, STEVEDORING TARIFFS & PORT EQUIPMENT

BUNKERBunker is available, supplied by road tankers at berth when vessel is alongside. Delivery within 3 working days from date of confirmation of payment.
CREW CHANGE• Crew change can be done at Tanga Port. Further information to be provided subject to requirements, if needed
FRESH WATER• Cost for fresh water is US$ 14 per ton + 18% VAT $ 2.52, cost US$ 16.52 per 1000 liters, supplied by road tanker.
HEAVY WEIGHT CHARGE RATES ON STEVEDORING BY PORT.
  • Below 5 tons - NIL
  • 5 tons – 10 tons - $ 10.00
  • 10 tons – 20 tons - $ 15.00
  • 20 tons – 40 tons - $ 25.00
  • 40 tons and above (max 65 tons) - $ 36.00

Plus 18% VAT

TAXES
  • No GOVT Tax on local Imports / for ships Owners Account.
  • For Export Cargo, Freight Tax is chargeable on Total Gross Freight Earnings at rate of 5% - payable by party earning freight i.e. ship owners/operator
PORT EQUIPMENTS
  • - 2 shore mobile cranes - Gottwald with capacity of 100t
  • - 1 Forklift with capacity 50t.
  • - 1 Forklift with capacity 16t. Port grabs available … with capacity …. (Is also allowed for clinker discharge)
  • - 2 Forklifts with capacity 5t
  • - 1 RTG for containers handling.
  • - 2 termina Tractors
  • - 3 grabs for bulk discharge (allowed for clinker cargo also )- capacity 15 mt
  • - Insisted Ship’s cranes & grabs must be operational for cargo discharge / loading.
QUICK DISCHARGE ARRANGEMENT• It is customary to give a bonus incentive (QDA) to stevedores in order to expedite discharge for lesser days ship port stay. The fee rate @ $ 1.00 for direct delivery cargo
SHIPCHANDLER SERVICE• Service is available by private providers. Delivery is at berth when ship is alongside. Delivery within 2 working days from date of confirmation of payment / service
WATCHMEN
  • The port is ISPS compliant – Security Level is 1.
  • Due to high incidence of theft/pilferage and stowaways, it is advisable to employ watchmen, although this is not compulsory.
  • The cost is $ 150 per day – 4 persons to be engaged for every 8 hours of watching. Payment can be cash by Master or put in FDA by approval of owners/operators /chrtrs.
SHIP SPARESService is available. Costs and requirement to be provided if needed
WASTE REMOVALS (GARBAGE / TRASH / SEWAGE, SLUDGE)

- Is compulsory as per Authority if is onboard.

- Costs USD. 150.00 per cbm
